Biography: Since 1958 study of technical physics at the Technical University of Vienna; 1963 Diploma work on x-ray physics. Contributions to nuclear electronics and computer control at the Research Centre Seibersdorf; 1967 Thesis work on scintillation detectors. Contributions to experiment control with high level languages. Since 1971 Employment at the Research Centre Jülich. Contributions to serial communication and laboratory automation. Between 1978-1983 responsible for the controlsystem of the TOKAMAK TEXTOR which is still in operation. Contributions to controls for the spallation neutron source, image processing for small angle x-ray scattering and microscopy. Development of a microtomograhpy system. Contributions to medical imaging, magnetic measurement techniques and signal processor applications.
Since 1996 head of the central laboratory for electronics at the Research Centre Jülich. Scientific management for neutron scattering instrumentation, data acquisition and detector systems for middle energy physics and medical instrumentation. Contributions to hyperpolarised noble gases for medicine, material research and neutron scattering. Contributions to imageprocessing for 3-D data sets from a variety of scientific instruments.
