Biography: Born in Munich in January 1962. After having studied German and English Literature and Philosophy at the Universities of Munich, Salamanca/Spain and Oxford/England, she worked as a research assistant for 5 years at Munich University. In 1992 she received her Ph.D. In 1993 she stopped her academic carreer in order to engage fully in her writing. She also works as editor, literary critic or author of essays on media and cultural change. Since 1996 she has been living in Berlin.
